The organisation

The Trusts Arena is a cornerstone of sport, entertainment, and community engagement in Waitakere and across the Auckland region.  We are a charitable trust, with a focus on community objectives, and are supported by Tātaki Auckland Unlimited and the West Auckland Trusts.

The Arena is a dynamic multi-purpose space for everything from sports events to high-energy concerts to corporate conferences.  We have hosted events as diverse as Snoop Dogg, The Great Childcare Expo, International Netball games, and the Diwali Festival, to name just a few.  We host a number of sports teams who call the Arena home and offer state-of-the-art function rooms and West Auckland’s premier fitness centre.

 

Key Responsibilities

As our Chief Executive Officer you will have overall responsibility for the organisation, reporting to our dedicated and highly skilled Board. In particular you will:

  • Lead strategic planning , operational and financial management.
  • Strengthen partnerships with sponsors, local authorities, and sporting bodies.
  • Drive revenue growth while maintaining accessibility and community focus.
  • Champion innovation in venue management, marketing, and event programming.
  • Inspire a high-performing team, fostering a culture of excellence and collaboration.

 

About you

You will be an exceptional leader with energy and a pragmatic ‘can do’ approach.  You thrive in fast paced, community-facing roles. In addition, you will bring:

  • Proven senior leadership, ideally as a Chief Executive, in venues, events, or sports management.
  • Strong commercial instincts, with experience in sponsorship and revenue growth.
  • A strategic mindset, balancing financial sustainability with community service.
  • Outstanding relationship-building skills, able to engage with a diverse range of stakeholders.
  • A commitment to innovation and continuous improvement.
